Taapsee Pannu reveals not being paid much for Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki & Varun Dhwan’s Judwaa 2; says, “They feel they are doing a favour’

Actress Tapsee Pannu – who made her acting debut in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films before stepping into Bollywood, has carved a niche for herself thanks to films such as Pink, Naam Shabana, Saand Ki Aankh, Thappad and more. However, did you know she still isn’t always paid greatly for her on-screen performances? During a recent chat, the actress made a shocking revelation about her remuneration for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki and Varun Dhawan-led Judwaa 2.

During a recent interview with Screen, Taapsee Pannu got candid about the kink of money she made when starring opposite the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan. She said, “Funnily, people think I do films like Judwaa or Dunki for money, that I get paid a lot. But no, it is the opposite – I get paid to do more for films that are headlined by me, like a Haseen Dilruba.”

She continued, “Other films don’t really pay me much because they feel they are doing a favour by taking me up in that kind of a film. They feel, ‘There is already a big hero, why do we need anybody else for that?’ I fight these notions on a daily basis.”

During the same conversation, Tappsee Pannu revealed that it’s the heroes who decide who will be the heroine. She said, “Now even the audience knows that heroes decide who the heroine is going to be in most of their films until you have a very big, super successful director, who has his or her own audience. Then the director will take a call no matter what.”

On the work front, Taapsee Pannu will soon star in Netflix’s Gandhari. The streaming platform recently shared the introduction teaser of the film. The film – which sees Taapsee reuniting with Kanika Dhillon, seems to revolve around a mother who takes drastic steps when her children are in danger. The release date of Gandhari has not been announced yet.
